When you submit a release through Soundrop, you can choose when you want it to become available on music platforms. You can select a future release date, choose to release your music as soon as possible, or use a previous release date for music that has already been released.
Choosing a future release date
Select a future release date if you want your music to become available on a specific day. Music platforms won't make your release fully available before the release date, although some platforms, including Amazon and YouTube Music, may display a page for the upcoming release before then.
Soundrop also supports digital pre-orders for eligible future releases on Amazon and iTunes.
How far in advance should I submit my release?
Submit your release early enough to allow time for Soundrop's inspection, any required licensing, and processing by music platforms. We recommend submitting at least six weeks ahead of your desired release date.
See How long does release approval and distribution take? for current processing times.
Releasing your music as soon as possible
If you select ASAP, Soundrop will deliver your release after it has completed the required processing. Your release can then become available as soon as each music platform processes the delivery.
Because processing times vary between platforms, an ASAP release may not become available everywhere at the same time.
Using a previous release date
You can select a date in the past if your music was previously released. You'll need an existing UPC/barcode to use a previous release date.
Using a previous release date doesn't delay delivery. Your music will become available as each platform processes Soundrop's delivery.
Can I change my release date?
In some cases, you can change the release date after submitting your release. If your release is already In Delivery or Live, you may be able to update the release date yourself. See: How do I update a Soundrop release after delivery?
If your release is still processing and you can't change the release date yourself, contact Soundrop Support. Release-date changes close to the original or new release date may not reach every music platform in time, so changes can't be guaranteed.
