This article lists Soundrop's current estimated processing times for release approval, cover song licensing, distribution, updates, and takedowns.
Processing times are estimates and may vary depending on your release and the music platforms involved.
Current processing times
| Process | Estimated timeframe |
|---|---|
| Release approval / Content Review | 3-4 weeks |
| Cover song licensing | 2–3 weeks |
| Delivery and processing by music platforms | 1–5 business days after approval and licensing |
| Changes to a release after delivery | 1–3 business days |
| Takedowns / cancellations | Up to 30 days |
Release approval / Content Review
Current timeframe: 3-4 weeks
Every release submitted to Soundrop must pass Content Review before it can be delivered to music platforms. During this review, we check your release information, artwork, audio, credits, and other details to make sure they meet distribution requirements.
If your release doesn't pass Content Review, you'll need to correct the identified issues and resubmit it. Your release will then return to the approval queue for another review.
Important: Making changes while your release is waiting for approval may move it to the back of the inspection queue.
See What happens during inspection or content review? for more information.
Cover song licensing
Estimated timeframe: 2–3 business weeks
This timeframe only applies if your release contains a cover song that Soundrop is licensing.
Soundrop must obtain the required license before we can deliver the release. Well-known compositions may be cleared more quickly.
See Which Cover Songs Can Soundrop License? for more information.
Delivery and processing by music platforms
Estimated timeframe: 1–5 business days after approval and licensing
After your release has passed Content Review and any required licensing is complete, Soundrop delivers it to your selected music platforms.
Each platform then needs to process the delivery. Your release may appear on some platforms before others.
If you selected a future release date, platforms should hold your release until that date.
A Delivered status means Soundrop has successfully sent the release. It doesn't necessarily mean the release is already live on the platform.
Changes after delivery
Estimated timeframe: 1–3 business days
If you make an eligible change to a release that has already been delivered, it may take 1–3 business days for music platforms to process the update.
Changes may appear on different platforms at different times.
Some release information can't be changed after delivery and may require you to cancel and resubmit the release instead.
See How do I update a Soundrop release after delivery? for more information.
Takedowns and cancellations
Estimated timeframe: Up to 30 days
After a takedown request is sent, each music platform must process the request and remove the release from its service.
Your release may disappear from some platforms before others.
If your release is still available on a platform more than 30 days after the takedown was submitted, contact Soundrop Support.
See How to Remove a Release From Music Platforms for more information.
How far in advance should I submit my release?
We recommend submitting your release at least six weeks before your planned release date.
This allows time for:
- Content Review;
- corrections and resubmission, if required;
- cover song licensing, if applicable;
- delivery to music platforms; and
- processing by each platform.
Submitting early is especially important if your music needs to be available on a specific date.
