Your release status shows where your release is in Soundrop's approval, licensing, and distribution process. Some statuses mean you need to take action, while others simply mean your release is still being processed. Use the guide below to understand your current status and what happens next.
Pending Approval
What it means: Your release has been submitted and is waiting for Soundrop's Content Review.
During Content Review, we check your release information, artwork, audio, credits, and other details to make sure they meet distribution requirements.
Do I need to do anything?
No, your release is waiting for review. Avoid making unnecessary changes while your release is Pending Approval, as changes may move it to the back of the inspection queue. If your release has been Pending Approval for longer than our current expected timeframe, contact Soundrop Support.
Inspection Failed
What it means: We reviewed your release and found something that needs to be corrected before we can approve it for distribution. We'll send you an email explaining what needs to be changed.
Do I need to do anything?
Yes. Review the issues identified by our team, make the required corrections, and resubmit your release. After you resubmit it, your release will return to the approval queue for another Content Review.
Waiting for License
What it means: Your release has passed Content Review, but it contains a cover song that Soundrop is licensing. We're waiting for the required license before we can deliver the release.
Do I need to do anything?
Usually, no. Soundrop will continue the licensing process. If we need additional information from you, we'll contact you. Cover song licensing can add additional processing time before your release is delivered.
In Progress
What it means: Your release has passed the required approval and licensing steps, and Soundrop is processing it for delivery to your selected music platforms.
You may see individual platforms move to Delivered at different times.
Do I need to do anything?
No. Your release is being processed. Different platforms may process deliveries at different speeds, so your release may become available on some platforms before others.
Delivered
What it means: Soundrop has successfully delivered your release to the music platform.
Delivered does not necessarily mean your release is already live. The platform still needs to process the delivery before the release can appear in its service. If you selected a future release date, the platform should hold the release until that date.
Do I need to do anything?
Usually, no. Allow the platform time to process the release. Most platforms take approximately 1–5 business days after delivery. If your release has been Delivered for more than one week but isn't available on a selected platform, you can send an update to request redelivery.
Delivery Error
What it means: Soundrop attempted to deliver your release to a music platform, but the delivery wasn't completed successfully.
A delivery error can affect one platform without affecting the others, so you may see a combination of Delivered and Delivery Error statuses on the same release.
Do I need to do anything?
Usually, no. Soundrop automatically monitors delivery errors and retries affected releases when possible. If the delivery error hasn't resolved after one week, contact Soundrop Support so we can investigate.
Takedown in Progress
What it means: A request has been sent to remove your release from one or more music platforms.
The affected platforms need to process the request before the release disappears from their services.
Do I need to do anything?
No. Allow the platforms time to process the takedown. Your release may disappear from different platforms at different times. See How to Remove a Release From Music Platforms for more information about takedowns.
Taken Down
What it means: Soundrop has completed the takedown process for the selected platform.
Do I need to do anything?
No, if you requested the takedown. If you didn't request the removal or don't understand why your release was taken down, check your email for information from Soundrop. Contact Support if you still need help understanding the removal.
Why do different platforms show different statuses?
Each music platform processes deliveries and takedowns independently. For example, the same release might show:
- Delivered for Spotify;
- In Progress for Apple Music; and
- Delivery Error for another platform.
This doesn't necessarily indicate a problem with the entire release. Check the status for the specific platform you're concerned about.
When should I contact Soundrop Support?
Contact Soundrop Support if:
- your release has been Pending Approval for longer than 20 business days;
- you corrected an Inspection Failed release but can't resubmit it;
- a Delivery Error hasn't resolved after one week;
- a release has been Delivered for more than one week but still isn't available on the selected platform after you've attempted redelivery;
- your release was taken down and you don't understand why; or
- your status doesn't match any of the situations described above.
When contacting us, include the affected release and the music platform involved, if applicable.
