Revenue splits let you automatically share the earnings from a track with your collaborators. You can choose the percentage each collaborator receives, and Soundrop will pay each person their share directly. You can add as many collaborators as needed, and there are no additional membership fees for using revenue splits.
What information do I need?
For each collaborator, you'll need:
- their name;
- their email address; and
- the percentage of revenue they should receive.
The revenue split for each track must add up to 100%. Remember to include your own percentage when setting up the split.
Make sure you enter the correct email address for each collaborator. If they already have a Soundrop account, use the email address associated with that account.
If a collaborator doesn't have a Soundrop account yet, Soundrop will send them an invitation to create one.
Sharing your account information with collaborators
You can turn on Info Share to let approved revenue split collaborators see your Soundrop account name and email address. This helps collaborators confirm that they've added the correct Soundrop account to a revenue split.
To turn on Info Share:
- Select Account from the left navigation.
- Open Account defaults.
- Turn on Info Share.
Soundrop only shares your account name and email address with approved revenue split collaborators. This information isn't made publicly available.
How to add revenue splits to a new release
When creating a release:
- Go to Revenue Splits.
- Add each collaborator to the appropriate track.
- Enter the percentage of revenue each person should receive.
- Include your own share of the revenue.
- Make sure the percentages for each track total 100%.
- Save your changes.
Revenue splits are set individually for each track, so a release can have different collaborators or percentages on different tracks.
What do the revenue split statuses mean?
After you save a revenue split, Soundrop reviews the information you've provided.
- Yellow: The revenue split has been submitted and is waiting for review.
- Green: The revenue split has been approved and is active.
- Red: The revenue split was rejected or Soundrop needs additional information.
If a split is rejected, review the information you've provided and make any requested corrections.
How to change an existing revenue split
To update the revenue split for an existing track:
- Select Revenue Splits from the left navigation.
- Find the track you want to update.
- Select View/Edit.
- Update the collaborators or percentages as needed.
- Make sure the updated percentages total 100%.
- Select Save.
The updated revenue split will be submitted to Soundrop for review.
