If another Soundrop user adds you to a revenue split, Soundrop creates a Collaborator Account for you and sends you an invitation. A Collaborator Account lets you receive your share of the revenue from releases distributed by another Soundrop user.
How to set up your Collaborator Account
When you're added to a revenue split, you'll receive an email from Soundrop containing a temporary password and instructions for accessing your account. Follow the instructions in the email to:
- Sign in to Soundrop.
- Accept Soundrop's terms and conditions.
- Add your payment information under Payment info.
Once your account is set up, you can view the releases you're receiving revenue from under My Music.
What can I do with a Collaborator Account?
A Collaborator Account is designed for receiving revenue from music distributed by someone else. You can use it to:
- receive your share of revenue;
- manage your payment information; and
- view releases you're receiving revenue from.
You can't use a Collaborator Account to upload new releases or edit music distributed by another Soundrop user.
What if I already have another Soundrop account?
If you have more than one Soundrop account, such as a Collaborator Account and a Distribution Account, select Switch Accounts to move between them. Collaborator Accounts display Soundrop beneath the account name on the Switch Accounts page.
What if I want to distribute my own music?
If you only have a Collaborator Account and want to distribute your own music through Soundrop, select Upgrade Account. This creates a separate Distribution Account that you can use to upload and distribute music. You can then switch between your Distribution Account and Collaborator Account.
Do I need to set up payment and tax information?
Yes. Revenue paid through a Collaborator Account is subject to the same applicable payment requirements, fees, and tax withholding as revenue paid through a Distribution Account. Make sure your payment and tax information is complete so Soundrop can pay your share of the revenue. See: How and when do I get paid by Soundrop?
