A Spotify URI is a unique identifier Spotify assigns to artists, releases, tracks, playlists, and other content.
When submitting a release through Soundrop, you may need your Spotify artist URI to make sure your music is delivered to the correct artist profile. You may also need a release URI if you're setting up a pre-save campaign for an upcoming release.
How to find your Spotify artist URI
If you already have a Spotify artist profile, you can find your URI using the Spotify desktop app or your Spotify artist page URL.
Find your URI in the Spotify desktop app
- Open your artist profile in the Spotify desktop app.
- Select the three dots on your artist page.
- Open Share.
- Hold down Ctrl on Windows or Option on Mac.
- Select Copy Spotify URI.
Your artist URI will look like this: spotify:artist:0EANQDy9R0iyVz27nGiDvQ
Find your URI from your Spotify artist page URL
You can also find the artist ID in your Spotify URL.
For example: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0EANQDy9R0iyVz27nGiDvQ
The characters after /artist/ are the artist's unique Spotify ID: 0EANQDy9R0iyVz27nGiDv
Add that ID after spotify:artist: to create the Spotify artist URI: spotify:artist:0EANQDy9R0iyVz27nGiDv
What if I don't have a Spotify artist profile yet?
If this is your first release under an artist name and you don't already have a Spotify artist profile, you don't need an existing artist URI.
When submitting your release through Soundrop, select the option indicating that you're a new artist. Spotify will create a new artist profile for your music.
Only select an existing artist profile if you're sure it belongs to you. Providing the wrong artist URI may cause your release to appear on the wrong Spotify artist page.
How to find the Spotify URI for an upcoming release
You may need the Spotify release URI for an upcoming release if you're creating a pre-save campaign. Once Spotify has received your release, you can find its identifier through Spotify for Artists:
- Sign in to Spotify for Artists on a desktop or laptop.
- Go to your upcoming releases.
- Find the release you need.
- Select View playlist pitch, or select Pitch a song if you haven't submitted a pitch yet.
- Look at the URL in your browser.
The URL will contain identifiers for both your artist and upcoming release. It will look similar to: artists.spotify.com/c/artist/ARTISTURI/submission/RELEASEURI
Copy the release identifier that appears after /submission/.
Add that identifier after spotify:album: to create your release URI: spotify:album:RELEASEURI
You can use this release URI when setting up a pre-save campaign.
