As of October 18th, 2021, Soundrop has upgraded our payout system to improve tax handling and payout options for creators around the globe. This change requires you to supply your tax information. For more information click here.
One of Soundrop's core (and coolest) features is the ability to split revenue across multiple accounts. We have two types of accounts:
- Distribution accounts (the account that uploads and distributes music)
- Collaborator Account (an account that receives revenue on another user's distributed content)
Distribution Accounts
With this type of account, you can add content, edit existing content and get paid. You will have the ability to set up revenue splits and get your music/content delivered to our partners worldwide.
Distribution accounts can only view the releases that they have signed up for distribution. If your distribution account is included in a revenue split for a project signed up in another, then that project will not appear in the list of my music (though your earnings will generate as intended).
NOTE: If you and another artist collaborated on a project and you both have a Distribution Account, the project will ONLY show up in the account it originated from. For example, if you and your friend Joe worked on a song together, set up a revenue split for it but he wanted you to sign it up in your account because he trusts you, Joe will get his cut for it but we won't see it in his account, you will.
Collaborator Account
Collaborator Account accounts are generated through the processing of revenue splits, and once the account is created we'll send you an invite. You'll receive a temporary password and a link to accept our terms & conditions. Once you're inside your account you'll be able to add payment information (click Payment info) and view the releases in which you're receiving revenue (click My Music).
While Collaborator Account accounts look similar to regular distribution accounts, they don't allow for adding new content or making edits to titles that were already distributed.
If you have multiple accounts (such as an additional contributor or distribution account), you may switch between them by clicking on "Switch Accounts". Collaborator Account accounts will display "Soundrop" under the name on the Switch Accounts page.
If you have just a Collaborator Account account and you would like to add a distribution account (for releasing your own content), you may do so by clicking "Upgrade Account". This will create a new distribution account that can be accessed by switching accounts, or logging out and logging back in.
Collaborator accounts may be subject to tax withholding and payment fees, just like distribution accounts.
