YouTube Content ID can generate revenue when eligible YouTube videos use music you've opted in to Content ID through Soundrop. When YouTube identifies your music in a video, a Content ID claim may be placed on the video so eligible views can be monetized.
How much can I earn from YouTube Content ID?
There isn't a fixed amount paid for each view or use of your music.
YouTube revenue can vary based on factors such as:
- whether an advertisement is shown;
- the type of advertisement;
- the viewer's location;
- advertiser demand;
- whether the viewer has a YouTube Premium subscription; and
- other factors determined by YouTube.
Because of these variables, Soundrop can't predict how much a particular video or number of views will earn.
When will I see my YouTube Content ID earnings?
YouTube reports Content ID earnings to Soundrop after the revenue has been generated. This means there can be a delay between activity on YouTube and the earnings appearing in your Soundrop account.
Once earnings have been reported to Soundrop, they'll be included in your Soundrop balance and paid according to Soundrop's regular payment process.
See How and when do I get paid by Soundrop? for information about payment timing and the minimum payment threshold.
Where can I see my YouTube earnings?
You can view reported YouTube earnings in your Soundrop account along with earnings from other platforms.
Why does a YouTube transaction show $0.0000?
A YouTube Ad Supported transaction may appear as $0.0000 when the associated view didn't generate ad revenue. Not every YouTube view generates revenue. For example, an ad may not be shown because:
- the video isn't eligible for advertising;
- ads or certain ad formats aren't enabled;
- no suitable ad is available for that viewer;
- the viewer has recently seen an ad;
- the viewer has a YouTube Premium subscription; or
- other YouTube advertising and monetization factors apply.
What do the different YouTube earnings types mean?
You may see several types of YouTube earnings in your Soundrop account:
- YouTube Ad Supported: Revenue from ad-supported views of videos uploaded by YouTube users.
- YouTube Ad Supported Adjusted: An adjustment to ad-supported revenue, which may relate to issues such as ownership conflicts, reference overlaps, or disputed claims.
- YouTube Audio Tier: Revenue from eligible non-subscription listening on supported audio devices.
- YouTube Backpay Resolution: Revenue reported for assets that were monetized before ownership was resolved.
- YouTube Mobile Audio Tier: Revenue from eligible non-subscription listening on supported mobile audio experiences.
- YouTube Subscriber Supported: Revenue associated with eligible YouTube Premium activity, including user-uploaded videos and YouTube Music.
- YouTube Subscriber Supported Adjusted: An adjustment to subscription-supported revenue, which may relate to issues such as ownership conflicts, reference overlaps, or disputed claims.
