You can request a takedown if you want to remove a release you've distributed through Soundrop. You can take down your release from:
- all music platforms; or
- one or more specific music platforms.
Important: A completed takedown can't be reversed. If you want to distribute the release again later, you may need to create and submit a new release.
Before you request a takedown
If you're taking down your release because you need to change something, check whether the information can be updated first. Some changes can be made without removing and resubmitting your release. See What can I change on my Soundrop release?
If the change you need isn't supported, you may need to take down the existing release and create a new one.
How to take down your release from all music platforms
To remove your release from every platform it has been delivered to:
- Sign in to your Soundrop account.
- Go to My Music and select the release.
- Open the Distribution tab.
- Open the Bulk Actions menu.
- Select Send takedown to all delivered.
- Read the takedown message carefully.
- Enter Takedown in the confirmation box.
- Select Issue Takedown.
Your takedown request will then be sent to the platforms where your release was delivered.
How to take down your release from one music platform
If you only want to remove the release from a specific platform:
- Sign in to your Soundrop account.
- Go to My Music and select the release.
- Open the Distribution tab.
- Find the platform you want to remove the release from.
- Open the menu next to that platform.
- Select Takedown.
- Follow the prompts to confirm your request.
Repeat these steps if you want to remove the release from several individual platforms without taking it down everywhere.
What happens after I request a takedown?
- After you submit the request, the affected platforms will show a status of Takedown in Progress.
- It can take up to 30 days for your release to be removed from the selected platforms.
- Once the takedown is complete, the status will change to Taken Down.
- Your release may disappear from different platforms at different times while the takedown is being processed.
Can I cancel or reverse a takedown?
No. Once you've issued a takedown, the request can't be reversed. If you want to distribute the music again after the takedown is complete, you may need to create and submit a new release.
See How do I create and submit a new release?
What if my release hasn't been removed?
If you recently requested the takedown, allow up to 30 days for the selected platforms to process it. If more than 30 days have passed and the release is still available on a platform, contact our Support team for help.
How do I take down my entire catalog?
You don't need to issue a separate takedown for every release. Contact Soundrop Support and include the UPCs for all releases you want removed.
