Soundrop will usually deliver your artist name, release title, and track titles using the capitalization and formatting you enter. However, there are some formatting restrictions you should follow when creating your release.
Can I use special characters or fonts?
Don't use unsupported characters or decorative fonts in:
- artist names;
- release titles; or
- track titles.
This includes:
- emojis;
- superscript or subscript text; and
- characters created using specialized or decorative fonts.
These characters may not be supported by the music platforms Soundrop delivers to. Standard punctuation and characters that are part of the correct spelling of a name or title can be used.
How should I enter multiple artists?
In most cases, each artist should be entered separately using the appropriate artist fields. For example, don't combine two separate artists into a single artist name simply by entering: "Artist One & Artist Two". Instead, add each artist separately.
What if we perform under a compound artist name?
A compound artist name is an established artist name that contains multiple names but represents a single artist or group. Examples include Simon & Garfunkel and Jesse & Joy.
Soundrop can accept an established compound artist name, but we may need to verify that the name is already being used publicly. If you're asked to verify a compound artist name, contact Soundrop Support and provide a link showing the artist name as you want it to appear.
Examples of acceptable sources include:
- an official artist website;
- an established Spotify or Apple Music artist page;
- an artist or musician Facebook page;
- an Instagram profile;
- a Wikipedia or AllMusic page; or
- another established music or media website showing the artist name.
For YouTube, provide a video where the artist name appears in the video title. A channel page alone can't be used as verification.
You usually only need to verify the formatting of an artist name once. If you add another primary or featured compound artist, you may need to provide verification for that artist as well.
Do you need help with the Title Version field?
